MOLD SHOP
The mold shop is the section where molds necessary for the production of aluminum profiles are designed, manufactured, and maintained. In this area, high-quality, aesthetically pleasing, innovative, and decorative custom profiles are designed and produced using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software according to customer requirements and intended use.
Molds, made from high-durability and heat-resistant steel materials, are produced using modern technologies such as CNC machines and Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) techniques. Mekaline Aluminum's integrated facilities produce an average of 1,500 to 1,600 molds annually.
The mold production process, which involves a series of procedures from determining the manufacturability of the mold request from customers to the delivery of the appropriate samples, includes the following steps:
- Customer-provided designs or samples are analyzed by experienced personnel.
- Mold dimensions and cost information for the aluminum profiles to be produced are shared with the customer.
- After approval, designs are prepared using 3D (CAD/CAM/CEA) software.
- Designs are produced on CNC-controlled machine tools, taking into account surface quality, dimensional tolerances, and performance requirements.
- Thermal treatment is applied to increase the durability of the molds and ensure resistance to deformation.
- Produced molds are inspected for accuracy and functionality during the aluminum extrusion process.
- Regular maintenance is required to ensure the longevity of the molds. Repairing or renewing worn or damaged molds is crucial.
